Walmart Pet Prescriptions is an online pharmacy that allows you to order pet medications and vet diet food on Walmart.com with your vet's approval.
How To Shop Pet Prescriptions
- Begin shopping for pet prescriptions by searching for items individually or by going to Services > Pharmacy > Pet Pharmacy to browse.
- Items can also be found under Account > Pets > Pet Pharmacy.
- Add the item(s) to your cart.
- Enter your pet and vet information.
- We'll contact the vet to verify the prescription.
- With approval, we'll fill the prescription. RX orders will ship to your home after authorization from the vet.
If the vet doesn't respond within two business days, we'll contact them again. It can take up to five business days for the vet to respond. If we can't verify the prescription with the vet, we'll contact you. If you no longer wish to wait, you can cancel the order if it's still in Placed status or request a cancelation if it's in Preparing status.
Pet Prescription Substitutions
Pet Prescription orders may have a substitution if the vet makes a change to the prescription. These changes can be:
- Item (E.g., Simparica Trio instead of Simparica)
- Strength (5 mg instead of 3 mg)
- Dosage (E.g., Instead of one pill ordered, vet approved 15 pills)
- Weight (E.g., Simpartica for 11 lbs dog instead of five lbs.)
If the change results in a price increase:
- 10% or less price increase (and the item has not been changed by vet): We automatically approve the change.
- Over 10% price increase or item changed by the vet: You must approve the change.
- We’ll notify you via SMS, app notification, and/or email.
- If you decline the change or do not respond by the deadline, the order will be canceled.
Refills
Reminder Notifications
We’ll remind you when your pet prescription is ready to refill so you won’t run out of medication. You'll get refill reminders through:
- Email
- Subject: It’s time to refill prescriptions
- Walmart app push notifications
- Subject: Refill your pet prescription
We only send reminders when there are available refills. Reminders are sent 7 to 10 days before the refill is due. If there is pending refill we won’t send the reminder.
To place a refill order:
Email: Select Refill now.
App notification: Select the notification to view details.
Expired or Out of Refills
If you would like to reorder an expired prescriptions or renew a prescription, you can add the item to your cart and select Reorder now on your prescription management page. We’ll contact your vet to approve it.
Vet Initiated Orders
If you have an existing PetRX order, your vet can add recommend prescriptions to your account. If you agree with the recommendations, you can add these items to our cart and check out.
