Texas Democrat Rep. Jasmine Crockett is in hot water for explaining to a crowd at a historically black church over the weekend that immigration is important because 'we done picking cotton.'
Speaking at a church in Waterbury, Connecticut's Grace Baptist Church to celebrate its 125th anniversary, Crockett made several shocking statements.
A viral clip of her address to the congregation begins with the Democrat explaining how she has had to travel around the nation educating people about the importance of immigration.
'So I had to go around the country and educate people about what immigrants do for this country, or the fact that we are a country of immigrants,' Crockett, 44, tells the crowd in the video.
'The fact is, ain't none of y'all trying to go and farm right now,' she said.
The audience began to murmur.
'Okay, so I'm lying?' the lawmaker said while flashing a face at the audience. 'Raise your hands.'
She got a few laughs before pressing on: 'We done pick and cotton. We are.'

'You can't pay us enough to find a plantation,' the Democrat continued.
A male in the crowd spoke up: 'I know that's right.'
Crockett later told the crowd at the church that black culture has not been welcoming to people who are LGBT.
'When we talk about black culture, I'm gonna be real with you and tell you that black culture has never really been one that has embraced the LGBTQIA community,' she
The Democrat's remarks are the latest in a string of questionable outburst.
Crockett in March told a a group of protestors on the 'Tesla Takedown' videoconference that for her birthday she would like them to 'take down' Elon Musk.
'All I want to see happen on my birthday is for Elon to be taken down,' she stated.
Republicans later slammed Crockett, saying she was guilty of inciting 'terrorism.'

Jasmine Crockett called Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, who is paralyzed and uses a wheelchair, 'Hot Wheels,' at the Human Rights Campaign's 2025 Los Angeles Dinner
Her request comes as the American EV producer has had its vehicles, dealerships, chargers and other infrastructure vandalized amid Musk's role with the Trump administration at DOGE.
Another nasty headline involving Crockett came just days later when, during a speech, she openly mocked a paralyzed man at a Human Rights Campaign event.
'Ya'll know we got Governor Hot Wheels down there, c'mon now, and the only thing hot about him is that he's a hot ass mess, honey,' she said referencing Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, who was paralyzed in 1984 and uses a wheelchair.
Her remarks were so poorly received that Republicans introduced a resolution to censure the Democrat - a rare move only taken to publicly shame a lawmaker for bad behavior.
The resolution, introduced on March 26, has yet to be voted on.
