Prince Harry was almost set-up with a VERY famous US reality TV star before meeting Meghan Markle, as comedian Katherine Ryan reveals how she tried to play matchmaker

The Duke of Sussex ended up appearing alongside his wife in the tawdry Netflix show, Harry & Meghan, or ‘docu-series’ as they would prefer to call it, when he could have married a queen of reality television.

Katherine Ryan has revealed that she tried to set up Prince Harry, 40, with Kourtney Kardashian, 46, before he met Meghan Markle, 43, who was much less famous at the time.

It happened when Kourtney, 46, attended a party at the London home of Katherine’s friend and fellow comedian Jimmy Carr. Harry’s cousin Princess Beatrice was also a guest at the party in 2016.

At the time, Harry was single after failed relationships with Cressida Bonas and Chelsy Davy, and desperate to settle down.

He had spoken in a television interview about his difficulties in finding love, saying becoming a royal was an unique challenge for a potential bride. ‘I’m not so much searching for someone to fulfil the role, but obviously, you know, finding someone who would be willing to take it on,’ he said.

Speaking about Carr’s party, Katherine, 41, recalls: ‘As soon as I went, in I saw Kourtney Kardashian there with Princess Beatrice.’

Referring to Kourtney, who stars in Keeping Up With the Kardashians with her sisters Kim and Khloe, Katherine says: ‘I went straight over to her, because I knew this woman, because I’m so invested in the family and the reality show. And she was so charming and nice to me.’

At the time, Kourtney was in a tempestuous, on-again, off-again relationship with Scott Disick, with whom she has three children.

Katherine recalls: ‘I said, “You need to leave Scott”. I was right. And she said, “Well, how can I do that? He’s in my house right now”. And I said, “Don’t go back to the house – you need to leave Scott”.

‘She was, like, “Well, I don’t know, who would I even be with?” And I was, like, “Prince Harry, maybe?” This was pre-Meghan.’

The comedienne explains: ‘I said Prince Harry because she was in the UK - two royal families uniting.’

It’s not clear if Katherine, who is a friend of Princess Beatrice and has met Harry, went on to arrange a date for Kourtney.

Harry met Meghan after admiring her photographs on Instagram, he said in his memoirs, Spare. He and Meghan had previously claimed they met on a ‘blind date’ arranged by a mutual friend, thought to be Violet von Westenholz.

How different things could have been if Katherine had played Cupid instead of Violet...
