Gwyneth Paltrow has described Meghan Markle as 'very lovely' but admitted she doesn't know her 'super well' as she attempted to shut down rumours of a feud.

The Iron Man actress confirmed that she had 'hung out' with fellow Montecito resident the Duchess of Sussex 'a few times', adding she was 'proud of her'.

But Paltrow also said she 'won't be a pawn in some drummed up triangulation of women feud in order for your f***ing clickbait', declaring: 'Leave us out of it.'

Paltrow added that she 'will not stand for that' and wished Meghan 'nothing but the best', saying: 'Every woman deserves to go into anything that they want to do.'

It follows comparisons between the Duchess's Netflix show With Love, Meghan and lifestyle brand As Ever and Paltrow's Goop empire - sparking rumours of a clash.

Speaking on a new episode of The World's First Podcast With Erin & Sara Foster, Paltrow was asked about a rumour that 'you and Meghan Markle hate each other'.

She said: 'You know what I won't be at this point in my life? Like, I won't be a pawn in some drummed up, you know, triangulation of women feud in order for your f***ing clickbait. Leave us out of it, leave us out it. Like, don't do that. I will not stand for that.

'I wish Meghan nothing but the best. Like, like, it's so great what she's doing. I'm proud of her. Every woman deserves to go into anything that they want to do, like, people need to just check themselves.'

Paltrow added: 'She lives in Montecito so I've seen her, I've hung out with her a few times. She seems really lovely. I don't know her super well, but she seems really, really lovely.'

It comes a month after Paltrow addressed the speculation during an Instagram Q&A on March 25 after one of her 8.7million followers asked if she was 'comprehending the Meghan Markle beef that social media says you two have?'

The 52-year-old Oscar winner, filming in the kitchen of her home in the Montecito, replied: 'I genuinely do not understand this at all, whatsoever.'

She then turned her head to ask someone off screen: 'Do you understand this?'

Paltrow quickly panned her iPhone camera to her right to reveal Meghan sitting beside her at the counter.

The Duchess playfully shrugged her shoulders, giggled and leaned back in her chair while eating a piece of pie.

It comes after Paltrow had posted a video of herself preparing breakfast which were similar to scenes from the Netflix series.

She used the song used in adverts for Meghan's series, This Will Be (An Everlasting Love) by Natalie Cole.

The actress turned wellness guru, who founded her wellness company in 2008, has previously defended how Meghan set up a lifestyle brand, saying 'everybody deserves an attempt at everything that they want to try'.

Paltrow, who lives near where the Duke and Duchess of Sussex moved to after giving up their royal duties in 2020, told Vanity Fair last month that she had 'met Meghan, who seems really lovely, but I don't know her at all'.

'I was raised to see other women as friends, not foes,' Paltrow added. 'I think there's always more than enough to go around. Everybody deserves an attempt at everything that they want to try.'

The actress, who put out the Netflix series The Goop Lab With Gwyneth Paltrow about her company, also said in that interview - published on March 18 - that she has not seen Meghan's series, which came out on March 4.

But she said that she thinks when 'there's noise about certain women in the culture, I do have, always, a strong instinct to stand up for them'.

The duo's joiny video comes days after fans were convinced that Paltrow was throwing subtle 'shade' at Markle with her latest cooking video that was shared to Instagram on Saturday

She also said her mother told her that 'another woman is never your competition', and 'what is right for you will find you'.

In recent weeks, Meghan launched As Ever in tandem with her TV show which was met with savage reviews from critics but still did well for Netflix, reaching the streaming giant's top ten programmes globally.

The first three episodes of the Duchess's new Lemonada Media podcast Confessions Of A Female Founder have also now come out, with Meghan promising 'girl talk' and advice on how to create 'billion-dollar businesses'.

This week, Meghan has been in New York with her husband Prince Harry to attend the Time100 summit and also unveiled a memorial to victims of online harm.
