Capital Radio DJ Zofia Rogers revealed she has been given a life-changing health diagnosis after admitting she delayed going to the doctor for a lash appointment.

Zofia of Capital Dance fame took to her Instagram Stories and wrote: 'Health update: After months of appointments, tests, scans and investigations I finally have a diagnosis of MS (multiple sclerosis).

'This has come as a huge shock to me as I never expected it to be something like this, and I’ll have to have lifelong treatment to manage my symptoms and make sure it doesn’t get any worse.

'I'm really lucky that I've found it super early and I only had 2 lesions on my brain so hopefully with correct treatment it will stay at a mild level.'

She concluded: 'Although I'm massively in shock at this outcome and it wasn't something I was expecting, I'm also relieved to finally know what's been making me feel so unwell for so long.

'I'd love to connect with other people who have MS as I'm still trying to learn and understand more of what it all looks like, and kind of wrap my head around it too.'

Multiple sclerosis (known as MS) is a condition in which the immune system attacks the body and causes nerve damage to the brain and spinal cord.

It is an incurable, lifelong condition. Symptoms can be mild in some, and in others more extreme causing severe disability.

Zofia later returned to her stories with a candid snap from her hospital bed and expressed how lucky she felt to have health insurance.

'I know it can be a big cost but I verrry much recommend health insurance if you can afford it because the speed and ease of everything has been incredible'.

She continued: 'Funny story. I was SO convinced there was nothing wrong with me that I nearly cancelled my MRI scan cos I couldn't be bothered to take out my hair extensions a they had metal in them'.

'And I delayed my consultant appointment cos one they gave me clashed with my lash appointment, lashes first'.

Zofia, who has presented on Capital for two years, later thanked fans for their support and during a break in her show shared a brief video message.

She said: Thank you so much for the messages about my last couple of stories. I really debated sharing this, but I really wanted to connect with some other people who are also going through a similar diagnosis, so that's why I chose to share it and obviously it's going to be part of my life so'.

It comes just days after fellow DJ and Radio 1 host  Katie Thistleton revealed that she was rushed to hospital for emergency surgery - just six weeks after giving birth to her baby boy.

The 35-year-old, who welcomed her first child, Reuben, last month, shared with followers that she had been left in agonising pain due to a huge cyst on her ovary, which had to be removed urgently.

She told her followers: 'So l'm six weeks postpartum today and was so excited to be officially recovered from c section and drive again etc

'But ended up having emergency surgery on my ovary a couple of days ago for a 16cm (huge) cyst that had twisted the ovary and tube.

'Guys when I tell you the pain was insane, if they'd offered to shoot me in the head I'd have taken it. Luckily they managed to save the ovary after thinking it might need to go.'

After the surgery update, Katie reassured her followers that she was now back home, sharing a sweet video of baby Reuben playing on his playmat.

Last month, the broadcaster announced the birth of her son on Instagram.

Katie, who surprised listeners with her pregnancy announcement live on air last year, posted a black-and-white photo cradling her newborn alongside husband Alex.

She wrote: 'Reuben Alexander Harris was born on the 6th March and he is THE CUTEST THING EVER.

'The love I feel for my incredible husband and this little tiny person we've made is almost too much for me to bear.

'I feel complete! And so grateful for our family and friends. And so in awe of/want to give a big hug to all the parents I know. And SO impressed with obstetricians and paediatricians and midwives.

'I will never be able to put into words the feeling I felt when I first saw him ❤️ We are loving our sweet little new life together as a family of 3 and feeling so very blessed.

'Ps. Reuben means 'behold, a son' and he was born to the Beatles 'here comes the sun' ☀️ obsessed.'

WHAT IS MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS?

Multiple sclerosis (known as MS) is a condition in which the immune system attacks the body and causes nerve damage to the brain and spinal cord.

It is an incurable, lifelong condition. Symptoms can be mild in some, and in others more extreme causing severe disability.

MS affects 2.3 million people worldwide - including around one million in the US, and 100,000 in the UK.

It is more than twice as common in women as it is in men. A person is usually diagnosed in their 20s and 30s.

The condition is more commonly diagnosed in people of European ancestry.

The cause isn't clear. There may be genes associated with it, but it is not directly hereditary. Smoking and low vitamin D levels are also linked to MS.

Symptoms include fatigue, difficulty walking, vision problems, bladder problems, numbness or tingling, muscle stiffness and spasms, problems with balance and co-ordination, and problems with thinking, learning and planning.

The majority of sufferers will have episodes of symptoms which go away and come back, while some have ones which get gradually worse over time.

Symptoms can be managed with medication and therapy.

The condition shortens the average life expectancy by around five to 10 years.
