A tenant was lost for words after receiving a bizarre list of demands from his landlord, all because he accidentally put rubbish in the wrong wheelie bin.
Renter Ben, believed to be from the UK, stumbled across an email from his landlord Martin, with the subject line: 'Urgent: Your inappropriate use of the green bin.'
'Hi Ben, I'm absolutely appalled. It's come to my attention that you've put non-recyclable waste in the green wheelie bin,' the email read.
'This is a direct violation of council rules, completely disrespectful to the street, and entirely embarrassing to me personally as your landlord. Please issue a written apology immediately, and rectify your actions before collection day.'
The tenant quickly replied, saying: 'Hi Martin, Sorry about that, it was an honest mistake. I must've accidentally mixed up the bins. I'll double-check next time. Thanks for letting me know.'
However, the landlord refused to accept his apology, even threatening to kick the tenant out of the property due to his 'disrespectful' behaviour.
'Ben, "Honest mistake"? Your actions have caused chaos! The entire neighbourhood is talking about it! Our reputation is in tatters,' Martin said.
'I've already contacted council and informed Environmental Health. Frankly, I'm considering eviction if this disrespect continues. I insist you attend a mandatory recycling awareness class to ensure this never happens again.'

The tenant was taken aback by the landlord's dramatic measure.
'Martin, I really think you might be blowing this slightly out of proportion. I've already apologised and assured you it won't happen again. I'm not sure a recycling awareness class is necessary. I appreciate your concern, though,' Ben responded.
But the tenant then received a lengthy email with a list of strange demands.
'Your flippant attitude towards this catastrophe is shocking. The council is involved, and I've escalated this to our local MP, who shares my concerns,' Martin replied.
'Here's how you can fix this: Issue a formal written apology to all residents, host a neighbourhood barbecue to publicly demonstrate your remorse and personally clean every wheelie bin on the street this weekend.
'I trust you'll comply to avoid further embarrassment.'
Refusing to follow through, Ben told Martin his demands were 'beyond ridiculous'.
'I'm not issuing public apologies or throwing a barbecue because of one bin mix-up. The council haven't contacted me, and I highly doubt the MP cares about a recycling error. Let's move on, shall we?' Ben said.

His response led to his landlord threatening legal action.
'Ben, your lack of accountability is astounding. You'll be hearing from my solicitor shortly. Good luck explaining your actions in court,' Martin said.
The email exchange was shared in a video on social media by British property consultant Jack Rooke, who later caught up with Ben to get more details on what happened afterward with his landlord.
'Ben said he didn't hear anything from his landlord's solicitor. There was no further word of it,' Jack explained.
Weighing in on the situation, the property consultant said: 'I just think the landlord was having a bit of a moment and a bit of a bad day.'
