Lady Mary Charteris reveals she is '6 years, 5 months and 22 days' sober as she DJs at the launch of Delevingne sisters' alcohol-free prosecco

Lady Mary Charteris has revealed she has been alcohol-free for 'six years, five months and 22 days', as she supported the launch of a new alcohol-free prosecco.

The London-based socialite, 37, took to Instagram to share a snap at the launch party of a non-alcoholic sparkling rose by Della Vite - the brand created by sisters Chloe, Poppy, and Cara Delevigne.

'Finally something for the non drinkers,' Mary wrote. She added: 'I haven't drunk for six years, five months and 22 days but who's counting. I'm always looking for other options when I'm out.

'Thank you Della Vite for catering to everyone. And thank you for having me to DJ the launch of your zero alcohol Prosecco.

The youngest Delevingne sister, model and actress, Cara, 31, who previously checked herself into rehab after struggling with addiction, has also appeared to take a liking to the tee-total beverage, and clutched a bottle of it at Glastonbury

Mary took to Instagram to share a snap of her DJing at the launch party - one of her many creative talents, with the 37-year-old also being a member of electronic rock band The Big Pink.

The socialite, who welcomed her daughter Wilde Jessie Furze in 2021, was once known as a wild party girl. Now, the model/DJ/singer/IT Girl, continues her fun-filled endeavours, but booze-free.

She contributes to a list of young socialites opting for a tee-total lifestyle, including Lady Lola Bute, 25, having witnessed firsthand what can happen with a life of excess.

In 2019, Lady Lola lost her boyfriend Kai Schachter to suicide. Just six months later her best friend IIa Scheckter died of a suspected accidental overdose. A year later she was caught in scandal when she broken lockdown rules, and months after her father passed away from cancer.

After her boyfriend died, she sought help for 'unhealthy coping mechanisms'. From there, Lola cleaned up her act and set up a charity to help those struggling with mental health and addiction.

In 2022, Cara Delevingne also turned her back on alcohol, saying that she reflected on her mental health struggles and addiction battle after sparking concern with a series of troubled public appearances.

Speaking to Vogue magazine as their April cover star last year, she confessed that she hadn't been 'ready' to tackle her demons until she fell into a 'bad place'.

She explained: 'I've had interventions of a sort, but I wasn't ready. That's the problem.

'I hadn't seen a therapist in three years. I just kind of pushed everyone away, which made me realisze how much I was in a bad place.'

Disturbing images from September 2022 showed the then-30-year-old appearing jittery and anxious outside Van Nuys Airport while she wandered around in dirty socks and no shoes.

The photographs sparked concern among her fans for her health, as she appeared with sunken, dark eyes while smoking on a pipe on some kind in her car.

Cara continued: 'I always thought that the work needs to be done when the times are bad, but actually the work needs to be done when they're good.

'The work needs to be done consistently. It's never going to be fixed or fully healed but I'm ok with that, and that's the difference.'

Her wellbeing had been at the forefront of her friends and family's concern last year after she was pictured behaving erratically on various occasions.

The model explained that she had been lying to herself about her health and it wasn't until she saw herself in the airport photographs that she realised she needed help.

'I hadn't slept. I was not ok,' she explained. 'It's heartbreaking because I thought I was having fun, but at some point it was like, 'Okay, I don't look well.'

'You know, sometimes you need a reality check, so in a way those pictures were something to be grateful for.'

She confessed that she had many 'shallow' relationships because she would hold back on her emotions so as not to 'burden' anyone and because of her fear of abandonment.

'If you ask any of my friends, they would say they'd never seen me cry,' she confessed.

'From September, I just needed support. I needed to start reaching out. And my old friends I've known since I was 13, they all came over and we started crying. They looked at me and said, 'You deserve a chance to have joy.''

Through her work in therapy, Cara realised that she needed to stop chasing the idea of a 'quick fix' to healing and has committed to following the 12-step program.

She explained: 'Before I was always into the quick fix of healing, going to a weeklong retreat or to a course for trauma, say, and that helped for a minute, but it didn't ever really get to the nitty-gritty, the deeper stuff.'

While Cara has made peace with the fact that her journey won't be straightforward, she said she struggles with the fact that outsiders don't understand.

She shared her frustrations at people simplifying her struggles, noting that her recovery won't happen 'overnight' and she's aware it will be a lifelong commitment.

She explained: 'This process obviously has its ups and downs, but I've started realising so much. People want my story to be this after-school special where I just say, 'Oh look, I was an addict, and now I'm sober and that's it.'

'And it's not as simple as that. It doesn't happen overnight…. Of course I want things to be instant - I think this generation especially, we want things to happen quickly—but I've had to dig deeper.'

A year later, and Cara has created an alcohol-free prosecco with her sisters.

The alcohol-free prosecco is described as having  'alluring aromas of red berries, with a crisp, clean mouthfeel distinct and complex flavour profile, delicate in both colour and taste.'

Della Vite's Prosecco Superiore DOCG (meaning controlled and guaranteed designation of origin) has been given the highest classification of wine in Italy.

The sisters have worked in partnership with the Biasiotto family, who have been producing superior sparkling wines for over three generations, with their winery located in the Valdobbiadene Valley, an area of high-altitude, within the Prosecco Region of Northern Italy

Della Vite is available to purchase nationally from dellavite.com and Selfridges for £25 for DOCG and £20 for DOC. The new alcohol-free version is £14.99.

Della Vite is also available at Wild by Tart, Brasserie of Light, Treehouse Hotel London, Sea Containers and Casa Cruz.
