Matt Hancock was humiliated by SIr Jacob Rees-Mogg's 16-year-old son for cheating on his wife after aiming a jibe at the youngster's father during a speech to Eton schoolboys.
Mr Hancock began his remarks with a joke about how Sir Jacob was 'not a good politician' - unaware his son was in the audience, according to The Times Diary.
When pupils were later given the chance to ask questions, Peter reportedly stood up and insisted his father was a great man in public and in private.
'Especially,' he added, 'as he remained loyal to his wife'.

Praising his son, Sir Jacob told The Telegraph: 'I think Peter was brave to stand up in front of hundreds of boys to take on a senior figure.
'It shows backbone and from my point of view admirable loyalty.'
Meanwhile, a friend of Mr Hancock insisted he had 'thoroughly enjoyed' an evening spent 'sparring with some very impressive boys'.

Mr Hancock shared three children with his osteopath wife, Martha, who he told about the affair shortly before it was splashed in the press.

Sir Jacob, meanwhile, has enjoyed a more settled family life in Somerset with his wife, Helena de Chair.
Peter Theodore Alphege is the couple's eldest, and their five other children are also named after ancestors, biblical figures or historical figures including popes.
They are Mary Anne Charlotte Emma; Thomas Wentworth Somerset Dunstan; Anselm Charles Fitzwilliam; Alfred Wulfric Leyson Pius; and Sixtus Dominic Boniface Christopher Rees-Mogg, who was born in July 2017.
Their mother has declared: 'There will be no Septimus and no Octopus.'

It is not Peter's first intervention into politics, with the teenager recently asking Richard Tice, the leader of Reform UK, 'not to put a candidate against my father' in the upcoming election. according to former Sun editor Kelvin MacKenzie.
In April 2023, he also emailed into his father's State of the Nation programme on GB News for telling viewers 'basic facts' about World War Two.
Sir Jacob said: 'You've been getting in touch with your thoughts and I've had one from a certain Peter Rees-Mogg, to whom I may be related, who says I don't need to explain basic facts about World War Two because my audience is intelligent enough to know.
'So thank you Peter for contradicting, or having a response to, Kevin [another viewer of the programme].'
