Air fryer fans say their 'minds are blown' after discovering 'hidden' feature that has been hiding in plain sight all along

Britons have been left in shock after discovering a hidden feature in their Ninja air fryer which could transform the way they cook.

The helpful tool was pointed out in a TikTok by social media user @bowesy5, who revealed they had just discovered something about their favourite kitchen gadget.

In the video, which has been shared almost 60,000 times, the TikToker opened up a discreet side compartment on her large air fryer and pulled out a neatly packed meat prong.

The handy tool is used to ensure meat is cooked properly, in which the tip of the probe contains a temperature sensor which measure how hot the meat is.

The sensor can then send the data to the air fryer or a digital display and tells you exactly how far along the meat is, taking the guess-work out of cooking.

The social media user captioned the clip 'Did you know?!' and it seems she wasn't the only person who was left surprised by the revelation.

Other air fryer users flocked to the comments to share their disbelief with one person writing: 'HOLD THE FRONT DOOR… goes and checks' and another commenting, 'WHAT?!!!! No I didn't know!! Off to check mine now!!'

A third said: 'No way I'm checking as soon as I get in', while another confessed they were running to the kitchen immediately to check this out.

Several TikTok users revealed they knew their air fryer came with a meat probe, but had no idea where it was hidden and wrote underneath the video: 'I was looking for this!' while one person commented, 'I thought we'd lost it in the bin'.

And even Ninja weighed in on the discussion, joking: 'You lot really don't read our manuals, do you.'

'But I'm British,' one TikTok user replied, and another wrote: 'Listen I don't read them unless I mess something up.'

And while many were overjoyed to find out they had a hidden goodie, some were disappointed that their model didn't include the meat probe.

Only Ninja Foodi MAX Dual Zone Digital Air Fryer come with a digital probe which has been a hit with users woh have taken to the reviews section on Amazon to say: 'So far, I have roasted a chicken using the probe and I couldn't believe how quick it cooked.'

Another wrote: 'What a game changer in the kitchen, easy to use with a very simple set of dials. The probe is a must-get as it totally changes the cooking method with confidence that the food is cooked to perfection.'

The Ninja air fryer can be bought online from Amazon and has achieved thousands of five-star reviews.

The favourite air fryer comes with two drawers, six cooking functions, and fits up to eight portions of food at a time.

It’s available in black and silver, black and copper, and all black and has three drawer sizes (7.6 litre, 9.5 litre, and 10.4 litre).

But if customers want want the extra meat probe, they will need to select ‘dual drawer and probe’ before checking out.

How to use Ninja's meat probe

Ninja's meat probe is a thermometer designed to ensure fish and meat is cooked perfectly.

Unlike a traditional meat thermometer, Ninja's digital probe is designed to be left inside the meat as it cooks.

Users select the desired outcome from pre-set options and then the air fryer lets users know when the food is perfectly done.

When not using it, the meat probe can be neatly packed away in to the side compartment.

According to the Foods Standards Agency, to ensure meat is fully cooked, the meat thermometer should be inserted in to the middle of the meat or fish and the temperature should reach 70 degrees Celsius for two minutes or the following temperatures:

  • 60°C for 45 minutes
  • 65°C for 10 minutes
  • 70°C for 2 minutes
  • 75°C for 30 seconds
  • 80°C for 6 seconds
