Good Morning Britain saw a double hosting shake-up on Monday as Ed Balls and Charlotte Hawkins presented the show.

Both Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley were replaced without explanation for the first show of the week.

Fans speculated that head presenter Susanna has headed on holiday with Charlotte stepping in to take over.

Meanwhile, Ed and Richard are reportedly rotational presenters who join Susanna for two weeks at a time - with the show marking the former Labour MP's turn in the chair.

The presenter shake-up delighted fans, with some begging for Charlotte to be made permanent and hailing her an 'intelligent interviewer'.

'Like it when Charlotte is presenting the show, she's an intelligent interviewer, she doesn't take over.

'Suzy on holiday edd back all suntanned it's a hard life if you can get it #GMB,';

'Half term so they bring g out the underdogs. Thought teachers were the only people who had half term not tv presenters!!!

'Good to see Ed back,'; 'Thank goodness you are back Ed no more Madeley.'

Susanna is head presenter for the show and in her absence Charlotte takes over, with Kate Garraway taking the spot on Fridays.

It comes days after viewers blasted 'beyond irritating' presenting duo of Kate and Adil Ray on Friday.

The hosts kicked off the show with the headlines of the day before interviewing former England striker and assisted dying campaigner Sir Geoff Hurst, 82.

But fans were left unimpressed by Kate, 57, and Adil, 50, and claimed the pair were 'unwatchable' and were quick to switch off.

Writing on X:  'Jeez why does Adil Ray and Kate Garraway have to shout all the time, they make themselves unwatchable . Absolutely painful pair, have a word or better still get rid of them GMB...'.

'Come on GMB we need a Adil warning you have spoiled my day already':  'My god Adil is beyond irritating, turning off': 'Are Adil & Kate dressed in black to commemorate the death of #GMB as a news programme?'.

Meanwhile on Thursday, GMB fans were left delighted as Ben Shephard returned to the early morning ITV day show.

The presenter, 49, bid farewell to the GMB team last February after a decade of hosting with longtime friend Kate in order to join Cat Deeley as the new permanent hosts of This Morning.

However Ben returned to the team on Thursday as he joined presenters Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley as they welcomed Pride Of Britain winner Jacob Newson, 10, who has raised more than £160,000 in honour of his mum.

Learning that Ben was one of Jacob's heroes and was hoping to meet him, the team had a sweet surprise for the young star as Ben made his unexpected entrance.

After Ben surprised Jacob, the youngster was also left in tears after receiving a special message from his favourite football team Leeds.

Welcoming Ben back to familiar soil, Susanna said: 'Lovely to see you back!' as Ben replied: 'Gosh, it's funny being back!'

Richard then joked: 'Fancy taking over Ben?'
