This dish is inspired by a few things that are near and dear to me. My dad is Hungarian and I grew up having my grandma's cabbage rolls and creamy cucumbers for special occasions. My wife's mother is Macedonian, and on a recent trip to Australia (where Bianca grew up and where her family is), her mother made me a chicken paprikash stew when I was sick. It was so homey and familiar and just what I needed — two dishes coming together that evoke a feeling of love and care.
