Wolves 1-3 Crystal Palace: In-form Eagles continue to impress under Oliver Glasner... as Michael Olise, Eberechi Eze and Jean-Philippe Mateta secure all three points at Molineux

The only thing that can stop Crystal Palace now is the end of the season.

While this win at Molineux was not as spectacular as Monday night’s four-goal demolition of Manchester United, the performance was imbued with the same vibrancy and optimism.

Michael Olise — at the double against Erik ten Hag’s side — scored again and played a crucial part in setting up the other two, for Jean-Philippe Mateta and Eberechi Eze, as Palace made it five wins from six.

Combined, this devastating trio proved too hot for Wolves to contain, the Palace fans chanting ‘He’s just too good for you’ whenever one of them strode past a tackle.

Unfortunately for Palace, all three players are increasingly in the shop window and it will make it difficult for manager Oliver Glasner to plan properly for next season. ‘You’ll never see them again,’ mocked the Wolves fans, and Palace may find it hard to resist cashing in.

‘The goal was to show our personality and we showed how difficult it is to play against us, how many chances we can create and what a fantastic team we are if we work together,’ Glasner said.

Wolves cannot wait for the season to end. They have won only one of their past 10 games, but the expected relegation scrap never materialised and manager Gary O’Neil deserves credit. ‘We beat ourselves and Palace picked up some good momentum from pressing, and they have good attacking players,’ O’Neil said. ‘But our flaws and weaknesses as a team are wide open for everyone to see.’

Palace scored twice in three first-half minutes to take control, with Olise bending a sumptuous left-foot effort into the far corner from 20 yards after Wolves stood off him.

Mateta was then left with a simple finish after Nathaniel Clyne slammed a shot off the post and it dropped straight to him.

Wolves scored when Matheus Cunha finished off a neat passing move with VAR confirming Hwang Hee-chan was onside in the build-up. But then Olise played Eze clear to round Wolves keeper Daniel Bentley and made it three just moments later.

Palace could even afford to finish with 10 men after Naouirou Ahamada picked up a second yellow card.
