The Focus Features spy film Black Bag is headed to Peacock and we have all the details.

By Gina Salamone

You don’t have to be a spy to see that Black Bag is packed with star power, an intriguing plot, and stylish characters and backdrops. And lucky for viewers, it’s headed to Peacock this spring.

Directed by Steven Soderbergh, the Focus Features spy thriller stars Cate Blanchett, Michael Fassbender, Pierce Brosnan, Regé-Jean Page, Marisa Abela and others as agents and staffers at the National Cyber Security Centre.

Things are shaken up when Fassbender’s agent, George Woodhouse, is tasked with finding the mole in their London office — and his wife, Blanchett’s  Kathryn St. Jean, is on the suspect list.

George then faces the test of whether he's more loyal to his country or his wife.

When will Black Bag arrive on Peacock?

Black Bag begins streaming exclusively on Peacock on May 2. Peacock subscribers will find everything from award-winning films to blockbuster hits from Universal Pictures, Blumhouse, Focus Features, Illumination and DreamWorks Animation on the streamer, often with bonus features, extended or unrated versions.

The 93-minute spy flick written by David Koepp also stars Naomie Harris and Tom Burke.

Koepp said that the idea for the film was initially sparked when he was writing the script for the first Mission: Impossible movie in the 1990s and he met with intelligence operatives for research.

“All the spy craft stuff was very cool, but I learned more than I ever expected about the people,” Koepp explained in the Black Bag production notes. “One woman told me that her job made it impossible for her to sustain a relationship. A line in the movie was inspired by my conversations with her. ‘When you can lie about everything, how do you tell the truth about anything?’"

In the film, the spies use the term "black bag" when they're asked about something, but can't — or don't want to — share secretive information.

When NBC Insider asked some of the stars what topics they would like to "black bag" in real life to shut down a conversation, Abela responded, "Anytime someone tries to make me talk about something, like admin-y in my life. You know what I mean? Like [someone says], 'If you have time, we really need to start talking about this thing that...' And I'd say, 'Yeah, no. Black bag.'"
