Round Up: Multiple Switch 2 Game Pre-Order Trailers Released

Lately I’ve found it way more rewarding to be a gaming minimalist than a gaming maximalist. When I play fewer games that I decide to play extremely selectively I can focus on them more and really enjoy my gaming time than when it’s spread across more games.
That said it’s hard to resist checking out more titles for a console launch. I’m going to be all over MKW but SF6 and Yakuza 0 are awfully tempting…

How did I not know Split Fiction was a 10/10 game? Wow, now on my radar for sure!

And @cosmograph, I feel exactly the same! Game choice overload is a real issue 😆 I am really trying to stick to one game at a time now, but if something tempting comes along that I can't resist it totally disrupts the experience (at times I don't even get back to the game I was playing). The Switch 2 launch will for sure disrupt some current Switch 1 experience... Can't wait all the same

@molkom Yeah absolutely. Especially right now it feels like a bombardment of excitement. I want to try to slow down my initial response to it all.
Like I know MKW is going to be so much fun and in reality that by itself could easily last me till DK Bonanza which would be the next big title I want. I have a list in my head that I would be proud to stick with but if I don’t I won’t beat myself up about it.

@cosmograph I'm excited for SF6 and pre-ordered with the console but I might have to cancel it since I was late knowing it would be a game-key card. I might as well just download the game straight-up. I don't sell any my games anyway.

@Zyph Yep, I saw that too. I’ve pretty much switched to digital entirely so it’s not a big issue for me except for the memory space is going to fill up quickly.
Ring Fit Adventure trained me to go digital because I never wanted to take that cartridge out. Also SF 6 is a great game to have installed because you can just jump in and play a few matches before playing something else.
I do feel for the people that want all these games physically because I know there are a lot of collectors out there.

@cosmograph Yeah I'm not entirely opposed to digital (I still won't switch fully) since there are games that I want to be on the ready any time. SF6 or fighting games in general doesn't eat large amounts of your time and I enjoy playing them on short bus/train rides. The thing I'm worried about is the 50+GB file size, it's crazy.

Yeah, that didn’t turn out to be true.

Switch 2 receives a lot of 3d party support, right from the start.

I really hope Sega change their stance on key cards and upgrade paths because at the moment I'm not buying anything from them

Wow! It's the games that I already own on PC and Xbox that have already been available for the last 1 - 10 years!
This time I can play on the go for about 15 minutes until I reach my destination, or in public where others can stare and laugh at me or rob me outright! Neato!

@cosmograph Same here. When I had GamePass and PS Plus I ended up hating them as I found the choice too overwhelming and felt unable to appreciate any of the games properly, nor get very far in any of them.

Will pick up Mario Kart and Yakuza 0 firstly. After that will get Donkey Kong. Other than those 3 games not much else interests me. Hitman i'll pick up if they have an offline mode but from what i've heard it's really meant to be more an online game.

Once Final Fantasy 7 Remake and WWE 2K make it over i'll pick those up too (if they actually run well.)

I think nintendo is as fun as the gimmick it provides for that generation. Thats why i like to revisit the wii waggle games people used to hate and have fun now. Also the wiimote made a great mouse controller. Anyway since the switch 2 core thing is the multicamming stuff i’ll use it only for that and won’t buy any singleplayer games. only NSO retro games with friends until nintendo decides to launch a must play online cam couch coop multiplayer game. I don’t have time to spend on on ugly ue5 games while the wii was great skyward sword style graphics

I wonder if we'll ever get Indiana Jones and the Great Circle on Switch 2. That would definitely be well worth the expense.

So that's... zero new games, compared to what you could already play the past year on other devices. And from Nintendo itself, only MKW. Kinda sad launch lineup...

@cosmograph yep, this is something I am trying to be more mindful of too.

I'm also trying not to get caught up in the hype of games on different platforms and double dipping just because i prefer the platform in that moment or it can be played portably.

Pre ordered Sonic and Street Fighter today. MK World coming with SW2. Add on GameCube and I'm all set for launch.

I REALLY want to try Yakuza 0, but the whole key card thing gives me pause. At this point I'll either end up getting it fully digital on Switch 2 when I eventually get one, or buying it on another platform entirely. I think it'll ultimately depend on space and pricing.

I'm getting Cyberpunk 2077 at launch but planning to play Yakuza 0 once I finish Cyberpunk and the Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom.

Gonna start with SF6, Raidou and Yakuza.

Between the Switch 2 Mario Kart bundle, accessories like the pro controller and memory card as well as pre-orders for games on other consoles I own, I had to limit my spending a little, so of the third party games only pre-ordered Street Fighter 6 since I have most of these games on PS4, 5 or Series X. SF 6 is actually a triple dip but I love that series and having this one on the go will be awesome. For people who haven't played it, I can't recommend Yakuza 0 enough, my favorite PS4 game after RE 2 remake, but I understand why some who prefer to buy games physically are hesitant. Sega, as usual, making weird decisions. Still, anybody who can look past the game key card issue will get a gem.

@Suketoudara YES totally. I experienced that before too when I used to have a ps4. It’s so weird now with the abundance of old and new games available. It’s utterly overwhelming unless I limit it for myself. I’m older and I remember back in the day when big games came out like Double Dragon 2 or Mega Man 2 and that was the only big game (at least in my young mind without the internet). That was the only game I would be playing because I couldn’t afford anything else and it made me really cherish that experience. Now there are no financial limits or limits of genre quality or anything. It’s too much. I know this point has been made before but I’m really experiencing it personally now so it’s different if that makes sense.

@Medic_alert Yeah mindful is a great word for it. I remember getting games in the past for multiple systems and then really only playing on one platform. Also I know that the novelty of playing portably is a big temptation. I’ve rebought a few games on switch that I had played before like Dark Souls. Originally feeling so excited about it but then I just didn’t want to actually play it much. I had already experienced it and it wasn’t novel or exciting anymore. I’d already slayed all the dragons and lit all the bonfires lol
I’m a switch 1/2 player only now but I still don’t want to go crazy and get too many games and then not appreciate them and just move from one to the next.

@Anakin gotta agree here, with all the cool new things to play when switch 2 drops from mk world, GameCube on NSO and going to revisit botw and totk it's actually been really nice of Sega to be so anti consumer by giving the middle finger to everyone who made the mistake of buying sonic generations in the last 6 months since launch on switch so now I can rule out considering spending time or money on their products. Plenty of other options to choose from.

It's quite frankly astonishing that Sega think it's ok to have people pay again for a game that came out 6 months ago. Same goes with Puyo Puyo. Hardly any difference between versions but want us to pay for the game again. Yakuza is the only one I can really look past but it needs to be on the cartridge especially as the file size is under 64gb

But like you said, it's great because we don't have spend even more at launch.

@alicedarko There are gonna be some completely new games at launch, they just weren't mentioned in this article. Besides MKW, these new games include Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma, Fast Fusion, and Survival Kids. And then there's Bravely Default Remastered, which adds some new content, and which remains a Nintendo exclusive, so you can't play it anywhere else.

So Switch 2 is actually gonna get more completely new and/or exclusive third party launch games than Switch 1 did.

None of these game key card/code in a box releases are for me. Unless deeply discounted at $20 or less then mabey.

So far the only games I'll be picking up day one for Switch 2 is Mario Kart World & Cyberpunk 2077
