As more and more children use social media, Dr. Laura Berman and her husband Sam are demanding social media companies allow parental apps to monitor children’s online activity. They lost their son, who died after he purchased drugs while using Snapchat. Although not completely against the use of social media, the family wants companies to work with third parties to allow parents to have more control.
