Dancing

Spain
No, this is not the promised post about Charles Dance. Later.

Just kicked Aeron Damphair's scraggly arse out of DANCE WITH DRAGONS. He only had the only chapter, and it will work better early in the next book than late in this one. (That's how it looks to me today, anyway. I reserve the right to change my mind).

So DANCE has gotten a smidge shorter. But is still not done.

The good news is that I seem to have written more than a hundred pages of THE WINDS OF WINTER already.

Damphair's chapters out of the Dance?
it's quite a shame, because there was that little matter of a dream of a crow with seaweed in its wings...well,must wait.

Thanks for the update, George! I'm all for a shorter and more concise book (with less POVs). Can't wait for the Dance (I'm literally salivating... it's becoming a bit of a problem).

Good luck with the rest of the book. I can feel Kong's death throes approaching.

Looks like you'll finish The Winds Of Winter before Dance ;) It will be interesting if you publish The Winds of Winter first - like a Star Wars movies.

Now seriously I think you are making a wonderful novels and I don't really care when they will be finished, but I'm sure that the next book will rock!

Dancing into what?
Any chance WINDS or DREAM might get bumped out again for an eighth book?

I hope we'll still be seeing some ironborn action by way of Asha.

LOL, maybe you'll finish both books at the same time! Of course, then your fanbase would explode with sheer delight.

That horrible! We'd all die of sheer awesomeness!

Though thinking on it, if you've gotta go, what better way is there?
OK, maybe "In my own bed, with a belly full of wine and a maiden’s mouth around my cock, at the age of eighty.”

Hey George...
Hey George...
... almost 11p.m. here and still looking for some updates... it's really nice to read that ADWD and TWOW is going well... looking everyday at least five times here for updates... I even think about buying the books in english again, so that I can buy ADWD in the internet, before the book will be translated to german... so badly I'm waiting for the book.
Hope King Kong is going down soon. I know you are restructuring many times and rerighting and your are not willing to tell when the books will be finished... but can you give me (us) some clues how it looks like right now... like: status right now: 50 chapters planed, 45 chapters writen, 5 chapters missing, 15 chapters will be changed. or some percentages?
PLEAAAAAASSSSSSSSE - need information ;)
sorry for my english mistakes - didn't read and talked for a while.

Re: Hey George...
I'm german too, and I can say rereading the books in english is more than worth the trouble. Just take your time and look up a few key words and its not so hard to understand the story cause you already know it. I wouldn't say the german translation is bad, but reading in original is much better, especially for characters like Tyrion or Theon.

As for the status Mr. Martin never would give some percentages or something like 5 chapters missing, because then he would create some kind of promises he must held and therefore restrain his freedom to do as he likes.
In March however he stated that he has done 1311 pages of manuscript. This and judging by his other statements I would say there is big monkey Kong and a few or a few more chapters to finish or polish and thats it. But this is never gonna tell you how long it will take to finish it. Even if there are some chapters to be written completely new it doesn't say that this would be harder or take more time than to finish a few paragraphs of a longtime almost-finished-chapter...

Re: Hey George...
Status: in progress
Will be finished: when it's finished.

Writing's in no way a smooth process. Some writers can get to the end of the book and start over again. Which is why we wish him luck and send him cookies. :)

Re: Hey George...
I never said: COME TO AN END!
I just said: PLEASE, GIVE US INFORMATION HOW IT LOOKS RIGHT NOW.

I write a little bit for myself.. I know that writing is a smooth process, but nethertheless you can tell somebody how work is going, even that means that the situation can change from second to second... and i can except that... for good information I would send grandma's cookies over the ocean :)

Sincerly Hinka
ps: I can wait days, months, years... because I know George will do a good job, and i want him to be happy about his work and not doing it just for the money... but information would really be cool. It's like a dream... maybe he will be finished... or oh, looks good... pleasant anticipation :)

Hey now, be nice to Aeron or you'll spoil his cheery disposition.

It's always good to see these updates, no matter how mysterious they are. I won't say I can't wait for the book, because obviously we all can wait, so I'll just say carry on and good luck!!!!!

Well, I won't miss that guy. I never assumed there would be any chapters with him in any forthcoming volume (and I'm actually surprised that you have written at least one further chapter with him). After all, he is stuck on a stony island, and even if he starts a revolution in Euron's absence: Who cares? It is not going to change the big picture, at least unless Aeron isn't going to revive Cthulhu himself and has him punish all the alleged servants of the 'Storm God'.

Out of curiosity: We have now one Sansa chapter, one Arya chapter, two Arianne chapters (and one Arianne chapter yet unwritten), and one Damphair chapter for TWoW? Do I remember correctly?

That's great news on WoW! Having dealt with the structural/time-line issues in DwD, do you envision the next two going any faster? It often seems to me that doing the setting up is the hard part, while the climax is just fun to write.

My fiance is in his first time through A Storm of Swords (my favorite book in the series, btw) and he's totally hooked.

We're both salivating for Dance, and he hasn't even finished all the books yet!

Keep on keepin' on.

And as for Aeron- what is dead may never die, but rises again harder and stronger.

(Yeah, this makes no sense. I'm just excited to hear that the next books are that much closer.)

DAMMIT, George, I and many other Aeron Damphair / Hermione Granger cross-world slash-ficcers will no longer be buying this book!

I may even go back to Optimus Prime / Hermione Granger fic if this keeps up. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

Maybe you should go Charles Dickens and just start publishing chapters. Like, post a chapter a month on amazon for download as an ebook and charge 99 cents each. We'd all pay it. :) And it would keep people off your back begging for finished entire books. ;)

All progress is good progress. (And if it wasn't, there's always editing to make it good. XD)

Congrats on writing so many pages for The Winds of Winter! That's really great news, and I'm excited for all of it. But take your time, please. I'm still behind on my reading and need to finish A Feast of Crows. Yeah, I'm that slow. But in my defense, I was reading 92385798475 books to help me graduate college instead.

Woah, I can't tell if it's a good sign or not that the dour priest is both done in DANCE and that you've moved into a segment of WINDS. That's a little Sliders-esque.

Good to hear though :) Here's to hoping you enjoy more writing soon.
