OK I get that, but we currently have no vaccine to distribute. Why not stay on target and keep the existing network strong?

>> I could see that if the US federal govt manufactures a vaccine for COVID and wants to distribute it as efficiently as possible it would presumably end up distributed via neighborhood pharmacy and grocery stores

I also get that, but that's an argument AGAINST using Gates' distribution channels since they already exist.

Er...how 'bout you stick to that focus rather than trying to grab the limelight? It's quite likely those diseases will continue to be deadly. Not to mention the famous fallacy that because you're good at X you're good at Y. (See various peanut farmer - reality show host - community organizer - Governor of Texas - president references.).

Of course the app violates privacy. However, I think hope the debate moves beyond the false sense of privacy the EU, CCPA and other crappy laws provide back to "should someone who is sick with X really have the 'privacy' right to not allow everyone else to know about it."

I, for one, am perfectly fine with moving back to the pre-HIPAA model where people who checked into the hospital had their name, age and condition broadcast (printed in the newspaper back then) for everyone in the community to see.

I'm not cool with having a "mother may I" app like Google/Apple/China have that could block me from entering a building, buying a ticket, leaving my house, meeting with my undesirable friends, voting, etc. that a lot of sheeple seem to like right now.

That's originally what I thought when I read "Mr. Biden's allies have expressed anxiety about his ability to break into the national conversation". You can't "break in" if you sound like your other hobby is yelling at squirrels.

No, there seems to be a long list of exemptions that will keep hundreds of millions of people in motion (unfortunately, like other countries):
From TFA (https://twitter.com/ANI/status/1242476674710560770), the exceptions include all food shops, banks, insurance companies, media, IT, gas, storage, hotels, etc. Education, worship, "political gathering" and other groups have been banned, but funerals for up to 20 people are allowed. Etc.

As annoyed as I am about a government deciding to announce with crappy screenshots on Twitter (are websites down?) the feedback is interesting, with multiple people claiming that door-to-door delivery has either been stopped or is already moving under the pay-to-play thumb of corrupt local authorities.
