Its from pilot training that the refocussing time facts come. It takes between 1-1.5 sec to fully refocus your eyes to distance, thats just medical fact, look it up.

Cruise control enables you to pay more attention to your surroundings not less, regularly looking at the speedo, each time requiring your eyes to refocus on the road reduces your situational awareness, a principle pilots are trained on.

Did they tell you that a reasonably loud snare drum hit can reach 110db spl easily? In my 40 years of live sound engineering, Ive rarely found a band quieter on stage than in the FOH PA. Sometimes you see the drums enclosed in a clear acrylic box for exactly this reason.
If you see a Marshall quad on stage, it will be loud out front, its the way they project, the rest of the mix has to be sufficiently loud to get a balance. Keeping any kind of rock band under 100db spl is very difficult, mostly due to overly loud guitarists, who just wont turn down.
