Except that is not really what happened. What happened was that during the election debates, that "famously right wing President" talked about creating a new vaccine super fast by cutting out all the red tape and in a response to that the rival "left" wing vice president candidate replied that they would be extremely skeptical about such a vaccine. Then in the end the "famously right wing President" thankfully didn't cut any of the red tape but instead handed out funds in advance letting companies cut out the part of their internal red tape that is about "not putting to much investment into something that might not end up being worth it".

to be honest it sounds more like you where offended and triggered considering that you are trying to fling the "exceptionalism" tag around without any means to make it stick while your first post reeked of American Exceptionalism. And if any one is doing stuff to make Vlad happy that would be the current US administration, where you late to the memo?

Over here in Europe the income from my investments is already filed to the IRS, likewise charities also report to the IRS which means that the vast majority can just say OK to the tax form sent from the IRS while a minority have to fill in additional information for deductions but then they only have to fill in that information so it is still much less hassle and work than it is in the US. The only reason this is done differently in the US is the TurboTax lobbyists.

Saying that the EU is talking aim at end-to-end encryption is a bit hyperbole. All they have written about it so far in this proposal is this:

The Commission will present a roadmap setting out the legal and practical measures it proposes to take to ensure lawful and effective access to data. In the follow-up to this Roadmap, the Commission will prioritise an assessment of the impact of data retention rules at EU level and the preparation of a Technology Roadmap on encryption, to identify and assess technological solutions that would enable law enforcement authorities to access encrypted data in a lawful manner, safeguarding cybersecurity and fundamental rights.

So yes one outcome of such an assessment could very well be "lets end E2E encryption" but it could just as well end in simply stating that such a method is not possible.

no it was evidence collected by Sweden, Denmark and Germany by simply following the boat used. The boat was traced back to Germany and in Germany it was made clear that it was hired by a bunch of Ukrainians. Later it was also told by the Ukraines themselves that Zelensky had thought about it in a hypothetical way but then some one else high up in the military chain decided that it was a good idea.

The whole idea that the US somehow would be able to conduct such an operation is ludicrous, the path in, The Kattegat strait, is among the most surveilled pieces of water on the planet so the US would have had to conduct a clandestine attack by land through Poland/Germany and then on Swedish territorial waters all for nothing (Biden had already managed to get the pipe closed down long before the attack so there was zero interest from the US to do anything with it).
