Imagine if Thje Gimp and Inkscape were actually good enough for Adobe to stop abusive subscriptions or Gnome was good enough for Windows to stop telemetry? I warned you for 30 years.

Telemetry is what makes Adobe's UI and usability considerably better than GIMPs. Telemetry allows Adobe to see how people use their application, what features are used the most, problems with layouts and menu choices that make workflow harder so they can be re-designed to improve them.

Yes, you are irrelevant. On the other hand 100s of millions of people collectively in the world are not. Mind you that's 100s of millions of people more intelligent than you, i.e. people who seem to understand what happens when you multiply small numbers together.

China's exports to the USA account for just 2% of their GDP. They can quite easily lose the entire lot, never sell another cent of goods to the USA and manage just fine. America though which has much of the stuff now made in China will be a bit fucked though. And it can't just throw up new factories to make stuff because a lot of the raw materials it needs to make those things, such as rare earth minerals, come from China because America doesn't have enough to even meet current demand.

I've interviewed plenty of junior devs over the last couple of decades and a shocking percentage of them didn't understand basic concepts (I have an interview question that should be almost insulting to the person being asked which is basically "what is an API and how would you use it" and I have lost count of the number of blank looks that question draws).

Shit. I'm in my 50s, drive semi-trucks and can answer that off the top of my head.

CommentJust the natural order doing it's thing. (Score 1)29

The natural order which has fuelled evolution for millennia works by trying shitloads of things and letting the weak die. The designs of nature that work and the strongest examples of a particular living organism get to reproduce. Ultimately over time that results in less and less genetic diversity. It cannot be any other way.
