unified psychotherapy
Unified therapy is a type of individual psychotherapy for adults with repetitive self-defeating or self-destructive behavior. It is based on the premises that the behavior is systematically triggered and reinforced by ongoing repetitive dysfunctional interactions by members of the patient’s family of origin, and that such patterns can be changed using empathic communication strategies tailored to the sensitivities and proclivities of each individual family member.
