LEE COUNTY, AL (WTVM) - The Alabama Bureau of Investigation tells News Leader 9 they were brought on by the Lee County Sheriff's Department to assist in the death investigation of 43-year-old Tommy Swint on Wednesday.
A spokesperson for the ABI explains they were not involved with the investigation of Swint's possible connection to the murder of an Ohio woman.
The investigation into the former correction officer's self-inflicted gunshot wound is still on-going.
Swint was indicted in Dayton, OH for the 1991 murder Tina Ivery just hours before the Alabama Bureau of Investigation tried to arrest him at his apartment in Phenix City, AL.
Investigators say when they descended on the suspect's home Wednesday to serve a warrant, they heard gunshots and then found his body inside.
