TRAFFIC ALERT: Injuries reported in 3-vehicle rollover with asphalt tanker on U.S. 84
JONES COUNTY, Miss. (WDAM) - The Jones County Sherrif’s Office reported several injuries and a possible entrapment in a three-vehicle rollover involving a hot asphalt tanker.
Emergency services from Jones and Wayne County responded to the scene around 6:45 a.m. on Thursday.
The accident happened on U.S. Hwy 84 East, just past Country Line Road.
Due to the extent of the accident, the Jones County Sheriff’s office said all eastbound lanes of U.S. 84 are closed. They are diverting traffic around Charlie Green Road to Pleasant Grove Road and around Mill Creek Road to Myrick Strengthford Road.
The sheriff’s office urges drivers to use caution in the area and look for alternate routes.
The Mississippi Department of Transportation estimates crews to finish cleanup around noon on Thursday.
