DALLAS (KTVT) - A couple in North Texas couldn’t believe their eyes when they saw a child taking a package left on their front porch.

Joe Gamboa and his wife Patricia Tiburcio have seen a lot on their doorbell security camera in the seven months they’ve lived in their neighborhood.

“Lots of packages being delivered, lots of different stuff. There’s a lot of foot traffic here, a lot of cars coming by,” Gamboa said. “But nothing too crazy.”

They hadn’t seen anything too crazy until Friday afternoon when a notification popped up on Gamboa’s phone. The couple was stunned when they saw what was happening on their front porch.

“So, I’m like, what? I don’t know who that is. And they just picked up and walked off with my package, my Amazon package,” Gamboa said.

A young child was recorded grabbing a package outside their door and running with it toward an adult male.

Neighbor’s security cameras also recorded the man and child continuing their walk down the street.

“It’s really disturbing. I mean, to use a kid like that. The kid just doesn’t know any better,” Tiburcio said.

The couple posted about the video on social media, and it resulted in outrage toward the adult who either directed or watched a child steal.

“This is absolutely revolting,” one neighbor wrote.

Another said, “He’s having the kid steal, so he won’t get arrested if caught. That’s child abuse in my opinion.”

The couple is hopeful they can get the package replaced, but they want to get a message to the adult who was with the child

“Do better. I mean, that kid probably thinks the world of you. You’re the kid’s hero, and you’re teaching him things like that. It’s terrible,” Tiburcio said.

The couple plans to file a report with Dallas police.

They don’t want to see the child prosecuted, but they hope a guilty conscience will encourage the adult to set a better example by returning what didn’t belong to them.
