Man dead in collision on I-64 in Harrison County

HARRISON COUNTY, Ind. (WAVE) - A Daviess County, Ind. man is dead after a crash on I-64 in Harrison County Wednesday afternoon.

The crash happened around 2:30 p.m. near the eastbound 99.5 mile marker, just west of the Corydon exit.

Officers found a black Tesla collided with a semi-truck. The driver of the Tesla, 50-year-old Suresh Kumar Lohano of Washington, Ind. died at the scene. The semi driver was not injured.

An investigation revealed that the semi lost power after a mechanical issue. The driver couldn’t steer to the shoulder due to traffic and quickly slowed to a stop. The driver called 911 and placed orange safety triangles behind the truck.

A short time later, the Tesla failed to merge into the right lane before colliding with the semi, killing Lohano.

The crash is still under investigation.
