Body of missing Princeton student found at N.J. lake, officials say

The body of a Princeton University student who has been missing since Saturday was found at a nearby lake Friday, a university official said.

“I am deeply saddened to share with you that the body of Lauren Blackburn ’26 was found at Lake Carnegie this morning,” Princeton University Dean of Graduate Students Regan Crotty wrote in a message on the school’s web site.

“Our hearts are heavy and we share our deepest condolences with Lauren’s family and friends,” Crotty added.

No other information was released.

Blackburn was a member of the Class of 2026. He was last seen around 6 p.m. Saturday near the school’s Firestone Library on Washington Road, according to campus officials.

Around midnight Tuesday, police began an ongoing water search in Lake Carnegie following the missing person report. The lake, used by Princeton University’s rowing team, is a reservoir that stretches across several towns in Mercer and Middlesex counties.

Crotty said students can reach out to Counseling and Psychological Services which can be reached 24 hours a day at 609-258-3141 or the Office of Religious Life chaplains, residential college staff, and Graduate School staff. Faculty and staff can seek support by calling Carebridge at (800) 437-0911.
