Nintendo Wii U launch date leaked

Wii U
The Wii U is coming! The Wii U is coming! Now, how much is it going to cost?Nintendo

We know this much: Nintendo plans to launch its next game console —  the Wii U — sometime later this year. What the game giant has refused to reveal is when, exactly, the machine with the touchscreen controller will arrive in stores ... and how much it will cost for that matter.

But according to what looks to be a pretty reliable leak, Mario's maker will be putting the Wii U on shelves starting Nov. 18.

Game blog Kotaku reports that gaming accessory-maker PDP accidentally spilled the beans at a GameStop managers' conference. A tipster who attended the conference told Kotaku that the PDP representative wrapped up their presentation by saying their products would be in stores just before the Wii U's Nov. 18 release date.

Whoops.

The report was then corroborated by this NeoGAF post which told the same foot-in-mouth tale.

We'll likely get official word on the launch date and price on Sept. 13, when Nintendo is hosting a Wii U preview event in New York.

Meanwhile, if you want an advance look at the Wii U, check out InGame editor Todd Kenreck's preview video below and take a look at some of the games it will play here.
