The Consumer Electronics Show is just getting under way in Las Vegas and already there's been a lot of attention paid to taking video games on the go without sacrificing home console-style game controls.
Nvidia surprised everyone Monday by unveiling its brand new Project Shield mobile game machine, which comes with a console-like controller that sports two analog sticks for the kind of serious play that serious gamers want. Meanwhile PowerA is coming at the issue of mobile game controls from a different direction. On Monday the company unveiled its new Moga Pro controller (pictured above).
The controller works with Android phones and tablets and features full-sized console-style grips, precision dual analog sticks, four action buttons, a directional pad, two shoulder buttons as well as two shoulder triggers — all of which should be familiar to anyone used to using an Xbox 360 controller. The Moga Pro uses rechargeable batteries, comes with a USB charging cord as well as stand for your tablet. It connects to your tablet or phone via Bluetooth.
The Moga Pro follows the smaller, pocket-sized Moga controller that PowerA released in October.
Among the games that can be played using the Moga and soon the Moga Pro are "Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour," "Grand Theft Auto: Vice City," "NFL Pro 2013," "The Dark Knight Rises HD," and "N.O.V.A. 3." You can check out the full list of games supported here.
PowerA says the Moga Pro will arrive in the spring of this year and that the price will be announced at a later date.
