'Game of Thrones' headed to PS3 and Xbox 360

Given the enormous success that "Game of Thrones" has had among those who enjoy a good book or a decent thing to watch on HBO, it was only a matter of time before gamers got a piece of the action. And that time is May 15, when a "Game of Thrones" role-playing game hits the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.

Here's the just-unveiled trailer:

The game tells the tale of two former brothers in arms, soldiers of Robert's Rebellion, who have gone their separate ways and made very different choices in life. Eventually, fate brings them together, and despite their opposing goals, they must fight side by side once again, to face a common threat.

The game's story was written under the supervision of George R. R. Martin, the man behind the original books himself.

Die-hard fans of the franchise know that this isn't the first time a "Game of Thrones" game has hit the marketplace; a PC-only strategy game was released late last year, but went largely ignored due to its mediocre execution.

The latest effort is by the same developer, Cyanide, but is being co-published by Atlus. Given Atlus' established track record when it comes to RPGs (though mostly titles from Japan), many are hoping that they'll be able to lend some of their expertise into the finished product.
