Confirmed: Apple's iPad 2 unveiling next Wednesday

Apple

Apple just sent out a none-too-subtle invitation to an event next Wednesday to unveil the next iPad.

"Come see what 2011 will be the year of." the e-mailed invite reads, under a picture showing the corner of an iPad that's almost identical to the one currently for sale. As you can see, the picture conveniently obscures any region that might reveal, say, a camera or two. Since most of the expected improvements are internal, rather than design-oriented, this is no surprise.

As for the March 2 event, this was not really a surprise either, as news of the event leaked out yesterday. Apple is expecting a rather large turnout, judging from the choice of venue, the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in downtown San Francisco.

Rest assured, we'll be there to cover this event. 2011 certainly is the year of the tablet, and it may well turn out to be the year of the iPad — again.
