During "Monday Night Football," it was Darth Vader's helmet that threw fans into a frenzy.

Presale ticket demand for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" crashed several ticket websites on Monday night after a new trailer debuted during the Eagles versus Giants game.

"Last night we had the single biggest simultaneous surge for movie tickets our industry has ever seen," a spokesperson for Alamo Drafthouse said in a statement to NBC News.

Despite dedicating 40 servers to the cause, the "massive onslaught of simultaneous users" ended up exposing "an unforeseen flaw in the ticketing infrastructure itself that we were unable to fix on the fly."

The good news? Alamo Drafthouse transferred their ticket-selling services to Fandango, which is currently up and running after dealing with slow load times and error messages last night. Fandango and NBC News are owned by Comcast.

People also reported problems buying tickets from the AMC Theaters website.

While the sites are back up, many tickets for opening night on December 18 are sold out, which, predictably, led to an abundance of tickets for sale on eBay. For fans who can summon a little patience, there are still plenty of tickets for surrounding dates.
