Ever since "Back to the Future Part II" hit theaters, fans have yearned for the Nike sneakers with "power laces" worn by Marty McFly.

On Wednesday, which happened to be "Back to the Future" Day, Nike shipped the first pair to the man who made them famous: Michael J. Fox.

Yes, the Nike Mag is coming out in 2016, although they won't be easy to find. Nike said in a press release that the item will be a "limited edition release" available via auction, with all proceeds going to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.

The Nike Mag might even be more advanced than the sneakers in the movie, which was released in 1989, before smartphones even existed. According to Nike, the shoe's power laces will be complemented with an "individually responsive system that senses the wearer’s motion to provide adaptive on-demand comfort and support."

Fox also received a handwritten letter from Nike shoe designer Tinker Hatfield.

"Although the project started as science fiction," he wrote, "we're now proud to turn that fiction into fact."

There is no word on whether President Barack Obama will also get a pair, even though it's obvious that he is a big "Back to the Future" fan.

Details on the auctions will be revealed "spring 2016" on Nike's website and Twitter account. Until then, people will just have to be patient ... unless, of course they have some kind of time machine.
