Samsung’s premium 2012 Smart TVs will offer motion control, voice control and facial recognition commands, the manufacturer said Monday in unveiling a new lineup of LED and plasma TVS.
"With a wave of their hand," users can "browse and choose a link or content via the Web browser," said Samsung. A built-in camera in the TV will recognize movement in the foreground, and two "unidirectional" mics will recognize voice.
The flagship UNES8000 Smart LED TV, shown above, is uber-slim, with the 0.2-inch bezel design, first introduced in some Samsung TVs last year, while the entire LED line will have a 0.5-inch slim bezel.
The UNES8000 also has something different: a new, metallic U-shape stand that sets it apart from the black rectangular bases of most other sets and "adds to the sophistication this TV brings to any room," Samsung said. "The stand’s unique, minimalistic design belies its sturdiness and stability. Together, the TV and stand form a harmonious composition of straight lines and curves, appearing as a timeless objet d’art."
No word on pricing or availability yet.
