An Iraqi man inspects the damage inside the al-Tahira al-Kubra church in the formerly ISIS held town of the al-Hamdaniya district, some 13 km east of Mosul, Iraq. According to media reports, Iraqi forces liberated new districts, within the military operations aimed at liberating Mosul, backed by the U.S.-led coalition. More than 49,000 people have been displaced since the Mosul operation began, the International Organisation for Migration said.



A public worker on strike joins a protest demanding a salary increase of 4 percent, in Santiago, Chile. The National Association of Public Employees (ANEF) is turning down the government's salary increase offer of 3.2 percent, after bringing down its original 7 percent demand.

A government official looks at a pile of illegal firearms before it was set ablaze at a field in Ngong, in the outskirts of the capital Nairobi, Kenya. 5,250 illegal firearms were set alight by government in an effort to stem the flow of illicit firearms in the country. Deputy President William Ruto urged civilians in possession of unlicensed guns to surrender them.

Hundreds of people used the opportunity to get out of harms way during a period of relative calm on the frontline neighborhoods of eastern Mosul.
