Highlights from the Billboards: Prince Tributes and More

Ciara and Ludacris host the Billboard Music Awards at T-Mobile Arena on May 22, 2016 in Las Vegas.

Prince is projected behind Madonna as she sings "Nothing Compares 2 U," which Prince wrote and Sinead O'Connor recorded. Prince died on April 21 at age 57. The pop icons collaborated on "Love Song" in 1989.

Stevie Wonder joins Madonna to sing Prince's classic "Purple Rain." 

Demi Lovato performs "Cool For The Summer." She made a statement by wearing a shirt featuring an inclusive bathroom symbol, taking a stance against North Carolina's recent law addressing LGBT rights and bathroom use by transgender people.

Rene-Charles Angelil presents the Icon Award to his mother, Celine Dion. Dion, who lost both her husband René and brother Daniel earlier this year, broke down in tears after her son made a surprise appearance on stage to present her with the Billboard Icon Award.

Britney Spears, who received the Billboard Millennium Award, performs at the show.

He was a big winner, taking home eight honors, including Top Hot 100 Artist and Top R&B Artist. He dedicated one of his awards to Prince, saying "I love him so much. I didn't know him, but he was so close to me. He will always be an inspiration."
