Travel photo of the day: Getting close to a toucan

The privately owned Parque das Aves covers 40 acres of subtropical forest near Iguazu Falls in the state of Paraná, Brazil.

Rare and colorful birds fly about in the huge aviaries. Visitors can also see alligators, anacondas, pythons, marmosets and butterflies.

"The whole bird park was amazing, so many varieties of birds and butterflies unlike anything we have here in the states," Robin Mann told TODAY.com. "You can walk into the aviaries and get very close to the birds displayed."

Mann started the day hiking the trails around Iguazu Falls — which is on the UNESCO World Heritage List — then visited the bird park before the end of the day.
