Rick Santorum

  • GOP presidential candidate Rick Santorum won the Louisiana primary with 49% of the vote. Santorum has won 203 delegates out of the 1,144 delegates needed for the Republican nomination, according to NBC News.
  • According to the latest NBC News-Marist poll, in a two man race, Mitt Romney leads Rick Santorum 46-41 in Wisconsin
  • Santorum’s 2005 book “It Takes a Family” made the New York Times Best Seller list.

 Sen. Chuck Schumer

  • Sen. Chuck Schumer was chosen by Congress to be the chairman of next year’s presidential inauguration. Schumer said, “As we begin planning, we have no notion of whether we will swear in President Obama for a second term or whether we will swear in a new American president. That doesn’t matter. Our charge is to work together to create an inauguration day that is free of partisanship and celebrates peaceful transfer of power.”
  • Schumer has served as the U.S. Senator from New York since 1999.

Roundtable: Scarborough, Friedman, Brooks, Meacham, Ford, Brzezinski

  • Co-host of MSNBC's "Morning Joe" Joe Scarborough will moderate the roundtable discussion this week. 
  • In a New York Times column in this week, Thomas Friedman wrote about the U.S. political parties during his visit to New Zealand.  He wrote, “Looking at America from here, makes me feel as though we have the worst of all worlds right now. … we've lost our ability to do big, hard things together. Yet everything we have to do -- tax reform, fiscal reform, health care reform, energy policy -- is big and hard and can only be done together.”  Watch his last appearance on MTP.
  • New York Times columnist David Brookswrote about the health care law facing the U.S. Supreme Court this week.   Brooks wrote, “The Obama health care law represents another crucial moment in the move toward centralization. He wrote, “The President should give a big and important speech on the Obama health care law soon.
