Calandra Stallworth made a habit of speaking with her grandma every single day.
“She used to call me on her way to work and would sit and talk to me when she got home,” her grandma, Joan Harvey told Dateline. “I really miss that,” she said.
Calandra, a mother of two young children, from Crestview, Florida has been missing for over two months and family members are concerned for her safety.
On March 27, Calandra Stallworth dropped her two young daughters off at her grandmother’s house next door and went to work at the Hilton Sandestin Beach.
Later that evening, Joan said that Calandra called to let her know that she was on her way to pick up her children.
But she never showed up that night.
The next morning, Joan and Calandra’s parents started to worry.
“There’s no way she would leave us,” said Joan. “She sure wouldn’t.”
Calandra’s family describes her as outgoing, loving, and a caring mother to her daughters.
“But she didn’t always pick the best guys,” Calandra’s cousin, Rebecca Stewart told Dateline.
During the time of her disappearance, Calandra was dating a man with a criminal record named Antwon Smith.
“I know he is the reason why she is missing,” Rebecca said. “He was locked up right before all this happened.”
Joan said she feared Antwon may have been abusive towards Calandra.
“I told him, ‘If you ever put your hands on her in front of me – me and you are going to go head to head,’” said Joan, who has always been protective of her granddaughter.
On April 2, a few days after her disappearance, Calandra’s car was spotted in Destin, Florida.
When police stopped the vehicle, Antwon Smith was driving the car and another woman was in the passenger seat.
Smith was arrested at the scene for cocaine and marijuana possession and for driving with a suspended or revoked license, according to Okaloosa County Clerk of Courts records.
Calandra wasn’t in the car that night, but her cell phone was found with Antwon, according to her family.
Officials at the Crestview Police Department say they are pursuing all leads, but will not release any information because this is an active missing persons investigation. “We have not received anything to indicate this is a homicide,” Public Information Officer, Brian Hughes told Dateline.
Antwon is being held in the Okaloosa County Jail on the possession charges, and has not been in contact with Calandra’s family.
“I think that her disappearance is definitely connected to Antwon,” said Calandra’s cousin Rebecca. “He was controlling and you can tell that he was an abusive type of person.”
“He isn’t going to let us visit, because he knows what he did,” said Joan. “I don’t even want to see his face – it makes me so angry.”
Joan is a diabetic with high blood pressure and says that even thinking about Antwon is bad for her health.
Calandra suffers from the same condition as her grandmother.
“She needs her medicine,” Joan told Dateline. “Who is making sure she is taking her insulin?” Joan asked.
Joan is asking the community to look out for Calandra. ”Maybe someone has seen her and can put in a call,” she said. “We need help finding her.”
Joan hopes that Calandra will contact her family to let them know she is alive.
“I have grandkids all over -- in Florida and Alabama -- and I love them all, but she’s the one that stayed next to me,” said Joan. “I need her home.”
Officials at the Crestview police department says they have exhausted all leads in this investigation and invite the public to come forward.
Calandra is described as 5'6" tall, weighing 220 lbs. with black hair and brown eyes.
