Mallard settles into DNR EagleCam nest

MINNESOTA (KTTC) – The Minnesota DNR EagleCam is looking a little different these days thanks to a duck taking up residence in the nest while it was left vacant.
The mallard is a female. DNR staff say there are eggs beneath her. The DNR expects those eggs to hatch around May 15th.
The DNR says the very day those ducklings hatch, their mother will lead them to water.

The DNR says the duck is nesting a few hundred yards from an active bald eagle nest. Since anything can happen with wild animals, the DNR suggests watching the EagleCam with caution.
