Fourth Rochester resident pleads guilty in ‘Feeding our Future’ scheme

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) – A fourth person from Rochester pleaded guilty Thursday in the nation’s largest COVID-19 fraud scheme.

Mustafa Jama pleaded guilty to one count of money laundering for his role in the “Feeding our Future” scheme.

A group of five operated out of Brava Restaurant and Cafe in Rochester. According to court records, Jama wrote a check for $394,000 to buy a home in Lakeville. The conspirators claimed the restaurant was serving up to 3,000 daily meals to children.

The restaurant approximately $4.3 million in fraudulent child nutrition program funds. In total, the scheme exploited $250 million.

A sentencing date has not been set.
