Global Standards for the Microelectronics Industry
Main Memory: DDR SDRAM, HBM
Semiconductor memory plays an essential role in the development and functions of countless electronic devices ranging from computers and servers to generative artificial intelligence (AI), high-performance computing, high-end graphics cards, and more. JEDEC standards encompass virtually every key standard for semiconductor memory in the market today.
JEDEC DDR6
DDR6 is in development in JEDEC’s JC-42 Committee for Solid State Memories. JEDEC encourages companies to join and help shape the future of JEDEC standards. Membership grants access to pre-publication proposals and provides early insights into active projects such as DDR6. Discover the benefits of membership and join today.
JEDEC DDR5
JEDEC published its widely-anticipated JESD79-5 DDR5 SDRAM standard in July 2020, and the most recent update, JESD79-5C.01, in July 2024. This latest update includes the addition of features designed to improve reliability and security and to enhance performance in a wide range of applications from high-performance servers to emerging technologies such as AI and machine learning.
JEDEC HBM4
Designed as an evolutionary step beyond the previous HBM3 standard, JESD270-4 HBM4 further enhances data processing rates while maintaining essential features such as higher bandwidth, power efficiency, and increased capacity per die and/or stack, because the higher bandwidth enables the higher data processing rate.
