NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO PARTICIPATE OR WIN.
1. Sponsor.
The sponsor of this Promotion is Advanced Micro Devices, Inc., One AMD Place, P.O. Box 3453, Sunnyvale, CA 94088-3453 (“AMD” or “Sponsor”).
2. Eligibility.
The AMD Bolt Sample Code Contest(the “Promotion”) is open only to persons who are legal residents of the fifty (50) United States (including the District of Columbia) and Canada (excluding Quebec) who are at least eighteen a) 18 or older as of the entry period. Employees of Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (“AMD”), its subsidiaries, affiliates and agents, and the immediate family (defined as parents, children, siblings and husband, wife or domestic partner) of each such employee, together with those with whom such employees are domiciled, are not eligible to participate. By participating in the Promotion, Participants warrant that they are eligible to participate under the applicable laws governing procurement of prizes and awards. Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any Participant if Sponsor determines that Participant’s participation in the Promotion or receipt of prize would violate state or local law. Participants may be required to submit proof of their eligibility
3. Agreement to Official Rules.
Participation in the Promotion constitutes Participant’s full and unconditional agreement to and acceptance of these Official Rules.
4. Entering and Winning.
To participate, Participant must submit buildable and executable Source Code that illustrates how to implement one or more tasks with the Bolt technology (“Sample Code”) to the samples directory on GitHub before August 31. Interested participants should fork the Bolt repository on GitHub into their own workspace, and develop sample code inside of Bolts samples directory and build framework. Samples should be clearly documented and easy to read. When the participant is ready to submit code, a normal GitHub ‘pull request’ can be issued by the participant into the official Bolt repositories /develop branch. In the title or comments section of the pull request, the participant should include a description with the words “Bolt SAMPLE CODE CONTEST” to clearly mark the pull request as a submission for this contest. Submissions will be evaluated and AMD winners will be chosen based on upon Sample Code that AMD includes in the Bolt SDK or adds to the Open Source site. AMD will base its decision upon the following judging criteria:
- Performance: Demonstrate performance advantages of using Bolt when compared with implementations using STL, TBB, native OpenCL/C++AMP, or other implementations.
- Ease of use: Demonstrate simplicity of implementation vs. native OpenCL/C++AMP or ease of port from STL or TBB.
- Quality: Clarity of code and good documentation
Up to 5 winners will be selected. Multiple entries per person may be submitted but each person can only win one prize. Sponsor is not responsible for lost, late, incomplete, invalid, illegible or misdirected entries, which will be disqualified or for any error, human, technical or otherwise. Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual who has not provided accurate registration information, or it finds to be tampering with the operation of the Promotion, or to be acting in violation of these Official Rules.
5. License, Representation and Warrant.
Upon submitting the Sample Code to AMD, Participant grants AMD and its subsidiaries and necessary sub-licensees a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free, non-exclusive, fully assignable and transferable right and license under all intellectual property in the Sample Code to edit, adapt, translate, reformat, post, reproduce, distribute, display, download, use, copy, and create derivative works of the Sample Code, in Object Code or Source Code, in AMD’s sole discretion, to promote and market Bolt, and to develop or modify a Bolt SDK owned by AMD whether or not the Sample Code is chosen to receive a prize. (“Object Code” means machine readable computer programming code files. “Source Code” means human readable form computer programming code and related system level documentation.)
By submitting the Sample Code to AMD, Participate represents and warrants that:
1) To the best of Participant’s knowledge, after reasonable inquiry, the Sample Code does not include any content that infringes a third party’s intellectual property right, including but not limited to copyrights, patents, trade secrets, and trademarks;
2) Participant is the original author of the Sample Code, has not assigned its rights or had such rights vest in any third party by contract, operation or law or otherwise or if not the author has all necessary rights and licenses to the Sample Code from the owner(s) and has complied with any copyright notice requirements;
3) To the best of Participant’s knowledge, after reasonable inquiry, the Sample Code does not include any Trojan Horses, viruses, worms, spyware, adware or other components or instructions that are malicious, deceptive or designed to limit or harm the functionality of a computer; and
4) The Sample Code does not include any confidential information in breach of any confidentiality obligations.
6. No payment
Participant acknowledges and agrees that the rights and licenses it provides herein are provided with no cost to AMD and participation in this Promotion consists of any necessary god and valuable consideration to Participant.

Prizes are not transferable, and no cash substitutes for prizes are available, except by Sponsor, which reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to substitute different prizes of comparable value. Sponsor’s decisions shall be final and conclusive in all matters relating to the Promotion. Applicable local, state, and federal taxes and any customs charges or tariffs on prizes are the sole responsibility of and must be paid by the winner(s).
8. Prize Notification and Delivery.
Potential winners will be notified via e-mail. Sponsor will attempt to notify potential winners by reasonable means, using the contact information provided by the Participant on his or her completed registration. Each potential winner may, at Sponsor’s discretion, be required to sign and return an affidavit of eligibility and release of liability, as well as a publicity release, except where prohibited by applicable law. Failure to return a signed affidavit and release of liability prior to accepting delivery of the prize may result in forfeiture of the prize, except where prohibited by applicable law. Proof of sending will not be deemed to be proof of receipt by Sponsor. If for any reason a potential winner cannot be reached after a reasonable attempt has been made, or does not return a signed affidavit and release, the prize will be awarded to an alternate winner, selected by random drawing from among remaining entries. The prize will be sent to the address provided by Participant upon notification of winner selection. Allow up to eight (8) weeks for delivery. Failure to comply with any term or condition in these Official Rules may result in disqualification at Sponsor’s sole discretion. Potential winner(s) may waive their right to receive a prize, in which case an alternate winner will be selected in the manner described above. The reporting and payment of any taxes on prizes are the sole responsibility of the winner(s).
9. General Conditions.
Except where prohibited by applicable law, participation in the Promotion constitutes each winner’s consent to Sponsor’s use of the winner’s name, city, state, province or county, and country, likeness, photograph, statements made by the winner about the Promotion, Sponsor, and/or prize information for Promotion purposes in any media without further payment or consideration. BY RECEIPT OF ANY PRIZE, EACH WINNER AGREES TO RELEASE AND HOLD HARMLESS SPONSOR, ITS SUBSIDARIES, AFFILIATES, AGENTS AND THEIR RESPECTIVE OFFICERS, DIRECTORS AND EMPLOYEES FROM AND AGAINST ANY CLAIM OR CAUSE OF ACTION ARISING OUT OF PARTICIPATION IN THE PROMOTION OR RECEIPT, POSSESSION, USE OR MISUSE OF THE PRIZE. All entries become the property of Sponsor, and none will be returned. Sponsor reserves the right to terminate, amend, suspend or modify this Promotion in whole or in part, at any time and without notice or obligation, if in Sponsor’s sole discretion, any factor interferes with its proper conduct as contemplated by these Official Rules. Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, if, for any reason, the Promotion is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of Sponsor which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this Promotion, the Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process. Any attempt by any person to deliberately undermine the legitimate operation of the Promotion may be a violation of criminal and civil law, and, should such an attempt be made, Sponsor reserves the right to seek damages from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law. Sponsor’s failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision or of any other provision of these Official Rules. The invalidity or unenforceability of any provision of these Official Rules shall not affect the validity or enforceability of any other provision. If any provision of the Official Rules is determined to be invalid or otherwise unenforceable, then the Official Rules shall be construed in accordance with their terms as if the invalid or unenforceable provision was not contained therein.
10. Limitations of Liability.
The Released Parties are not responsible, to the extent permitted by law, for: (1) any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by entrants, printing errors or omission or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Promotion; (2) technical failures of any kind, including, but not limited to malfunctions, interruptions, or disconnections in phone lines or network hardware or software; (3) unauthorized human intervention in any part of the entry process or the Promotion; (4) technical or human error which may occur in the administration of the Promotion or the processing of Entries; or (5) any injury or damage to property which may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, from entrant’s participation in the Promotion or receipt or use or misuse of any prize. If for any reason an entrant’s Entries is confirmed to have been erroneously deleted, lost, or otherwise destroyed or corrupted, entrant’s sole remedy is another Entries in the Promotion provided that if it is not possible to award another Entries is due to discontinuance of the Promotion, or any part of it, for any reason, Sponsor, at its discretion, may elect to hold a random drawing from among all eligible Entries, as the case may be, received up to the date of discontinuance for any or all of the prizes offered herein. No more than the stated number of prizes will be awarded. In the event that production, technical, seeding, programming or any other reasons cause more than the stated number of prizes as set forth in these Official Rules to be available and/or claimed Sponsor reserves the right to award only the stated number of prizes by a random drawing among all legitimate, unawarded, eligible prize claims.
11. Disputes.
Except where prohibited, entrant agrees that: (1) any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of or connected with this Promotion or any prize awarded shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively by the United States District Court for the Northern District of California or the appropriate California State Court located in Santa Clara County, California; (2) any and all claims, judgments and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, including costs associated with entering this Promotion, but in no event attorneys’ fees; and (3) under no circumstances will entrant be permitted to obtain awards for, and entrant hereby waives all rights to claim, indirect, punitive, incidental and consequential damages and any other damages, other than for actual out-of-pocket expenses, and any and all rights to have damages multiplied or otherwise increased. All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of the entrant and Sponsor in connection with the Promotion, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of the State of California without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules (whether of the State of California or any other jurisdiction), which would cause the application of the laws of any jurisdiction other than the State of California. Some jurisdictions do not allow for limitations of certain remedies or damages and so this provision may not apply
12. Winners List.
