Impact

Journalism’s highest calling is to drive change by exposing the truth. Our work has attracted the attention of lawmakers, impacted communities, advocates, and stakeholders.

Our 2024 reporting has led to criminal charges being dropped against pro-Palestinian campus protesters, compelled the New York Times to issue an update to their October 7 exposé when our analysis revealed major inconsistencies, and stalled the advance of a bill granting Donald Trump sweeping powers to crush nonprofit organizations without due process.

The Intercept is dedicated to standing up for journalism and the power of narrative change. Last year, we filed a lawsuit against OpenAI for removing article titles and bylines, defending the copyrights of reporters everywhere. We also partnered with the University of North Carolina to pilot a student journalism program and launched a postcard campaign to inform a community in Gainesville, Florida, about toxic contamination at a local elementary school.
