Parag Hatibarua, Honoray ITMA Certified Tea Master™, loves tea with a passion.  It stems from the fact that he was born and brought up in tea estates in Assam. India, and is a third generation tea master following the path of his grandfather and father.

Parag is a professional Tea Taster and Tea Auctioneer with 28 years of experience in tea manufacturing, production, and quality control.  He has mentored countless tea tasters over the years. He also personally guides small tea farmers producing organic teas in Assam. At present, he is a Director at Eastern Tea Brokers, one of the pioneer tea tasting and auctioneering firms in Guwahati, Assam.

An avid outdoors person, he works professionally in the Anti-Poaching Project to save the endangered One-horned Rhinocerous in Kaziranga National Park. He has also been featured as the resource person on Indian teas in the television show, “Twist of Taste,” with Three Michelin Star Chef, Vineet Bhatia, aired on Fox TV.

Parag and his wife, Pallavi, love to travel and meet people from different cultures to spread the cheer and educate people on tea and the North East of India. Pallavi runs a small firm, “Smayana Teas and Tours” which deals exclusively in organic teas and tours in the North East of India. They live in Guwahati, Assam, India.
