Aristos was a journal of the arts that advocated objective standards in scholarship and criticism. Rejecting the inventions of both modernism and postmodernism, it championed contemporary work that, like the great art of past centuries, is concerned with fundamental human values, and is both intelligible and well crafted. Though staunchly independent, the editorial viewpoint of Aristos owed much to ideas on the essential nature of art offered by the philosopher-novelist Ayn Rand (1905-1982), as analyzed in the co-editors’ book What Art Is: The Esthetic Theory of Ayn Rand.

The Abolition of the Slave Trade Act 1807 was the start of a successful process that outlawed the African slave trade worldwide. After centuries of suffering, millions of African slaves were eventually freed and millions of lives saved. Those who worked so hard in the 18th and 19th century to abolish slavery would be shocked to find that there was still so much work to be done 200 years later. On this 200th anniversary slavery has changed but it has not been eradicated. The sites you see archived here attempt to catalog the anniversary and the programs created to educate the public.

The consolidated archives of the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph in Canada is a private, religious archives which is under the jurisdiction of the Congregational Leadership.
The goal of the archives is to collect past and present records of congregational members and institutions engaged in work that reflects the charism of the congregation from 1852 to the present. These records reflect the development of the congregation, the conduct of its affairs as a corporation, and the personal lives of its members and those served through its various ministries. It is the goal of the archives to make these records accessible to the public unless there are restrictions placed on the records by the donor or for reasons of privacy or sensitivity of the records.

Description:
The Edmonds-South Snohomish County Historical Society was formally organized on February 22, 1973, when Secretary of State, A. Ludlow Kramer, affixed the State of Washington seal on the society’s Articles of Incorporation.
The creation of the organization was led by a small group of influential citizens and pioneer family members, spearheaded by past Chamber of Commerce president, Douglas Egan. The purpose was to preserve the history and heritage of Edmonds and the south Snohomish County area for future generations.
Following incorporation, and with help from Edmonds Mayor Harve Harrison, the society obtained permission to use the old Carnegie Library building for the formation of a museum. On August 3, 1973, a grand opening celebration was held for the Edmonds Historical Museum.
Since 1973, over 26,000 items related to Edmonds and south Snohomish County’s heritage have been preserved. The Edmonds Historical Museum is an actively collecting repository dedicated to research, collection and preservation of historical documents, artifacts, memories and events, and utilizing interpretative displays and engaging in creative public educational programming.

KRIA is a community effort to gather and make openly available the content around the citizen-driven Icelandic constitutional reform process. In 2011, Iceland rewrote its constitution using an historically open approach. This offered an inspiring new way to think about how citizens can participate in policy reform using available technology. What resulted was a draft constitution that was affirmed by a public referendum. Iceland's proposed constitution has not yet been ratified by Althingi (the Icelandic Parliament), but the initiative is still alive and gaining international attention.
However, the ephemeral nature of digital-born content poses a threat to the constitutional process materials safety and public access. The KRIA archive hopes to make this information available as a resource for the community, scholars, and future generations. Among the partners in this effort are the Icelandic Constitutional Society, Icelandic National Archives, the University of Washington, the University of Iceland, and peace building nonprofit Build Up.

Kule Folklore Centre (KuFC) is a research unit at the University of Alberta. It houses the Bohdan Medwidsky Ukrainian Folklore Archives whose mandate is to document, preserve and make available expressions of non-elite, unofficial culture and folklife of Ukrainian Canadians and Ukrainians in other diaspora communities.
