From roland@cac.washington.edu Thu Sep 1 10:51:34 1994 Article: 3789 of comp.infosystems.www.providers From: roland@cac.washington.edu (Liem Bahneman) Subject: ANNOUNCE: tkHTML-2.0 html editor for X11 Date: Tue, 30 Aug 94 11:14:22 GMT-1:00 Organization: UW Computing Announcing tkHTML-2.0! What is tkHTML? tkHTML is a tcl/tk-based HTML document editor for X11. It has almost all the standard edittign features of a word processing feature, as well as special functions for editing HTML documents. TkHTML also has WYSIWYG previewing, so you can see what your document will look like, as you work. What's new in 2.0? TkHTML 1.* was written using the XF application builder. It was decided that it would be easier to maintain and have more funcitonality if written by-hand, so it was done. Doing it by hand also allowed it to integrate some wonderful widgets (Tix, by Ioi Kim Lam), which have drastically improved the usability of tkHTML. I've ssince fixed many many bugs and added as many of the features that users wanted (see the ChangeLog). Where can I get it? TkHTML is available at the home distribution site: ftp.u.washington.edu:/public/roland/tkHTML or on a mirror at: sunsite.unc.edu:/pub/packages/infosystems/WWW/tools/editing/unix/tkhtml What do I need to run tkHTML? Because TkHTML uses tcl/tk, you will need to have both of these suites installed. TkHTML also needs the wwwish tk interpreter instead of the standard wish interpreter to uses the WYSIWYG previewing (source available at above sites). For more information: You may paruse the tkHTML home page here or email the autthor directly at roland@cac.washington.edu. A screen shot of tkHTML 'in action' will be available from the FTP site shortly. Please note, that because this is a major revision upgrade, there will be a some bugs and errors, if you find any, please forward them along to me, and I'll fix them for 2.1. --------------- Liem Bahneman roland@cac.washington.edu -- ===[roland@cac.washington.edu]========================[The Last Gunslinger]=== Outside of a dog, computers are a man's best | UCS Consulting friend, inside a dog it's too dark to type. | UW Ice Hockey/X-Phile http://alfred1.u.washington.edu:8080/~roland | Linux/WWW/tcl/tk/LOTRmush From roland@cac.washington.edu Wed Jun 29 18:47:32 1994 Article: 724 of comp.infosystems.www.misc From: roland@cac.washington.edu (Liem Bahneman) Subject: ANNOUNCE: tkHTML-1.3 - Tcl/Tk html editor with WYSIWYG previewing Date: Mon, 27 Jun 94 23:41:25 GMT-1:00 Organization: UW Computing I'm happy to announce the relesae of tkHTML-1.3, a simple html editor for X. tkHTML has both menu-oriented and keystroke-oriented shortcuts tot make editting and converting documents to html format easier. Most standard text editing comamands are supported. tkHTML-1.3 now has WYSIWYG previewing to aid in design and layout of html documents. The WYSIWYG previewer requires the use of the 'wwwish' interpreter in place of the standard wish program. The wwwish sources are available at the tkHTML ftp site, as well as with TkWWW. tkHTML is still is a state of flux, so watch the ftp home for any changes, or bug fixes. IDeas and suggestions are very much welcomed! ftp.u.washington.edu:/public/roland/tkHTML and the info URL is here Thanks! - Liem Bahneman -- ===[roland@cac.washington.edu]========================[The Last Gunslinger]=== Outside of a dog, computers are a man's best | UCS Consulting friend, inside a dog it's too dark to type. | UW Ice Hockey/X-Phile http://alfred1.u.washington.edu:8080/~roland | Linux/WWW/tcl/tk/LOTRmush
