"Jenny From the Block" might have her roots in the East Coast, but she will soon be immersed in the history of the Golden State.
Jennifer Lopez will be working with acclaimed filmmaker Gregory Nava, who directed the New York native in her breakout role in the "Selena" biopic two decades ago, on a new limited series, "California." NBC said the project is in the development phase; Lopez's company, Nuyorican Productions, will develop the series for the network in association with Sony Pictures Television.
The series will follow a fictional Latino family as it spans California's history through Spanish, Mexican and then American rule, highlighting the Spanish missions and ranches that are a part of the state's rich heritage.
