Mutara Nebula

A gas nebula

You may be looking for gasoline.

A gas is one of the four fundamental states of matter. It can be characterized as a fluid of neutrally-charged atoms that have sufficient thermal (kinetic) energy to prevent intermolecular bonding. A gas has no fixed volume and therefore expands to fill its container.

Common examples of gases are the atmosphericnitrogen and oxygen, which are vital for the survival of most carbon-based lifeforms.

In 2267, while taking readings on Zefram Cochrane's friend, Leonard McCoy described it as "unstable, tenuous, like a collection of gases." (TOS: "Metamorphosis")
